How to Resubmit Claims in Practice Mate

Claims can be resubmitted following multiple workflows in Practice Mate.  They can be re-submitted from the 'Claim Fix' section for repairable claims, from the Claim List itself, or by following the steps below.  

This process is recommended for accounts that utilize Accounting in Practice Mate.  This process ensures the Visit is aligned with the Claim, and that the ensuing ERA has the best chance at being processed through Auto-Post.

Before We Begin

Ensure that the visit information is accurate and complete before resubmitting a claim. Any updates to the diagnosis, CPT codes, or other claim-relevant details should be made to the Visit prior to creating the new claim.

Steps to Resubmit a Claim in Practice Mate:

  1. Locate the Original Claim  

Go to:
Practice Mate, then select the Manage Patients tab.

  • Select the patient the claim is for.  
  • Navigate to Visit History.
  • Copy the Claim No/ID for the visit in question.  
  1. Delete the Original Claim  

Next, go to:
Claims Billing, then search for Claim No.

  • Locate the original claim.
  • Click the Delete icon to delete the claim from the Claim List. This will allow you to create a new Claim from the same Visit.

  1. Update Visit Information

Return to:
Manage Patients, choose the same patient, and then select Visit History.

  • Click on the Visit ID tied to the claim.
  • Under the Visit Info tab, make any necessary changes or updates.
  • Click Update to save your changes.

  1. Create and Submit the New Claim

Once the visit is updated:

  • Create a new Claim from the Visit.
  • Go to the Claims Billing tab.
  • Review the claim and submit the newly created claim for processing.
