HCFA Online Entry Form to Support Claim-Level and Line-Level Rendering Providers

We want to inform you of an important enhancement to the HCFA online entry form workflow in Service Center 2.0. This update improves how Rendering Provider information is captured and submitted on your electronic claims. 

What’s New in the Form?

• A new field has been added to Box 33 for entering a Claim-Level Rendering Provider NPI. 

• Conditional fields have been added at the line level to capture Rendering Provider details, but only when the Rendering Provider differs from the Claim-Level provider. 

Box 33 à Claim-Level Rendering Provider  

Box 24J à Line-Level Rendering Provider  

• (Optional and only used when a different Rendering Provider exists at the line level) 

Why This Change?

This enhancement aligns the HCFA OLE form with industry standards and supports more complex billing scenarios. 

It ensures claims are built accurately when: 

• A single provider is rendering services for the entire claim, or 

• Multiple Rendering Providers are involved on different service lines. 

What Do You Need to Do?

When submitting HCFA claims through the OLE: 

1. Enter the Claim-Level Rendering Provider NPI in Box 33 (if applicable). 

2. Use Box 24J only if a line-level Rendering Provider differs from the claim-level provider.
