Turn Off the SMS Self Check-In Feature in Practice Mate and EHR 24/7

SMS Self Check-In allows patients to document when they arrive for an appointment through a text message they receive ahead of a scheduled appointment.  While this SMS message can be seen as a type of short-notice reminder because it arrives ahead of the scheduled start time – this is not a feature related to the optional paid Reminder Mate add-on service.

If you need to disable the SMS Self Check-In feature to prevent patients from receiving texts or checking themselves in, you can do so through the Manage Office tab in either Practice Mate or EHR 24/7.

Note: Administrative rights must be enabled for the username you are using to make this change as it affects all appointments in your account.

Steps to Turn Off the SMS Text Reminder Feature:

  1. Log in to Practice Mate or EHR.
  1. Under Company Settings (Practice Mate) or Admin Section (EHR), select Intake/Agreement Forms.
  1. Locate the SMS Self Check-In feature near the top of the page.
  1. Click the sliding button to turn off the feature.
  1. A message will appear indicating that you must log out and log back in for the change to take effect.
  1. Click Proceed, then log out and back in to save the changes.

Tip: Once turned off, patients will no longer receive SMS check-in messages until the feature is re-enabled.
