Follow the steps below to update the required fields in the Patient Demographics section.
Why Change Required Fields?
Patient demographic fields are required because the information is necessary for every step in the patient care process. The required fields are usually limited to name and contact information (necessary as early as scheduling an initial appointment) but can be expanded to include many other fields, depending on your business needs.
Steps to Edit Patient Demographic Required Fields in Practice Mate
- Navigate to Patient Demographic Preferences
- Click the Manage Office tab at the top right.
- Edit Required Fields
- Scroll to the bottom of the page under Patient Demographics Required Fields, click Edit.
- Select the fields you want to make required by checking the boxes.
- Deselect any fields you no longer want to require.
- Save Your Changes
- Click Update to save your changes.
- Your updated settings will apply immediately to all new patient entries. You can easily see which fields are required as they are denoted with a red asterisk on the page. Trying to save a new patient or changes to an existing patient without information in these required fields will result in an error message.
