OA-Rx Settings for Office Ally

Users who are activated to use Office Ally’s E-prescribe (OA-Rx) feature have admin access to the OA-Rx settings found in the Manage Office tab in EHR 24/7 or Practice Mate. These settings allow you to manage specific E-prescribing options either for the entire office or for individual providers. Below is an overview of the available settings and how to access them.

Before We Begin

To access the OA-Rx Settings page, the following requirements must be met:

  • At least one provider on the account must be activated for OA-Rx (E-prescribing).
  • The user accessing the settings must have Admin rights.

Once these requirements are met, navigate to the Manage Office tab in EHR 24/7 or Practice Mate, then select OA-Rx Settings from the menu on the left.

Prescription Settings

At the top of the OA-Rx Settings page, you will see the Prescription Settings section. These options control how information appears on printed or faxed prescriptions.

  • Display Provider DEA on Print/Fax: Toggle this On or Off to determine whether the provider’s DEA number appears on printed or faxed prescriptions.
  • RX Note: Enter a custom note in this text field.
  • This message will appear on all printed prescriptions.

Note: These settings only affect printed or faxed prescriptions.

Provider-Specific eRx Settings

At the bottom of the page, you will see a list of providers associated with the account. To update settings for a specific provider:

  1. Locate the provider in the list.
  1. Click the Edit (pencil icon) to the right of their name.
  1. This will open the eRx Settings window.

Interaction Checking

This section allows you to enable or disable various medication interaction alerts by selecting the appropriate radio buttons.

Available options include:

  • Display Minor/Moderate Drug Interactions
  • Display Pregnancy Interaction Checks
  • Display Pediatric/Geriatric Interaction Checks
  • Display Duplicate Therapy Notifications

Alert Settings

This section contains dosage-related alerts.

  • Display Dosage Alerts: Toggle this setting On or Off to enable or disable dosage warning notifications.

Supervisor for eRx

If a provider requires a supervising provider for prescriptions, you can configure it in this section.

  1. Select Yes or No to indicate whether the provider needs a supervisor for:
  • Controlled Substances, or
  • Non-Controlled Substances
  1. Use the eRx Supervisor(s) dropdown to select one or more supervising providers.
  • Available selections include providers on the account or referring providers.
  1. Choose a Default eRx Supervisor from the selected supervisors.

Pharmacy Request Services

This section allows pharmacies and payers to send electronic requests directly to the prescriber’s system. Each feature can be enabled or disabled individually.

Available features include:

  • Rx Change:  
    Allows pharmacies to send prescription change requests.
  • Rx Renewals:  
    Allows pharmacies to send refill requests electronically.
  • Specialty Patient Enrollment:  
    Allows pharmacies to send specialty enrollment forms electronically for the prescriber to complete.
  • Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA):  
    Allows PBMs or payers to send prior authorization question sets directly to the prescriber.

To Enable or Disable a Feature

  1. Click the Edit button to the right of the feature.
  1. In the pop-up window, switch the feature On or Off.
  1. Save your changes.
  1. Click the Update button at the bottom of this page to save the settings on this page.  

By configuring these OA-Rx settings, offices can customize interaction alerts, prescription printing options, supervisor requirements, and pharmacy communication features to match their workflow.
