Patient Ally – Introduction

This article introduces Patient Ally, an optional service within Practice Mate, and explains how to activate and configure it for your account.

What Is Patient Ally?

Patient Ally is a secure messaging portal that allows providers to communicate with patients and exchange attachments. It can be activated on a per-provider basis and customized to suit the needs of your practice. You may choose to use it for patient messaging only, enable bill payment and appointment requests, or opt out entirely — all within a single account.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Patient Ally Settings
  • Go to the Manage Office tab.
  • Select Company Settings, then Patient Ally Settings.
  1. Activate Patient Ally for a Provider
  • Users with admin rights can activate Patient Ally for each provider individually.
  • Click Edit next to the desired provider.
  • Check the box labeled “Yes, I would like to join Patient Ally.”
  • Customize how each provider interacts with patients, and specify who, if anyone, is authorized to communicate on their behalf.
  • Click Update to save your selections.
  • Note: Patients must be 18 years or older to access Patient Ally.
  1. Invite Patients to Patient Ally
  • Once Patient Ally is activated, go to the Manage Patients tab.
  • Select the patient you would like to invite and click the pencil icon to edit their details.  Note that the patient’s email and phone number are required for the invitation to go through.
  • In the Patient Data tab, click Not Enrolled under the blue and green Patient Ally icon to send the invitation to the patient.

Patient Ally is now active, and your patients have been invited to join. For additional assistance, contact Office Ally for support.
