OA-Rx Settings are used to configure the e-prescribe (eRx) feature available through Office Ally. These settings determine how prescriptions are displayed, how alerts function, and how providers interact with pharmacies and payers through Surescripts.
Note: This option is not available until your account has been activated by Office Ally for e-prescribe access. You must additionally have administrative rights to view and edit these settings.
Accessing OA-Rx Settings
- Navigate to the Manage Office tab.
- Under the Company Settings or Admin section, click OA-Rx Settings.
- The OA-Rx Settings page will display two main sections:
- Prescription Settings (Office-Level Settings): Located at the top of the page.
- Provider Settings: Listed in the bottom half of the page.
Office-Level Prescription Settings
In the top section, you’ll find two options that apply to all providers in your office:
- Display Provider DEA on Print/Fax
- Choose whether the provider’s DEA number is displayed on either printed or faxed prescriptions.
- Select the radio button for On or Off as desired.
- RX Note
- This is a free-text field where you can add a message or disclaimer.
- The text entered here will be displayed on all printed prescriptions.
Provider-Level OA-Rx Settings
The bottom section lists all providers associated with your office. Each provider has an Edit button to the right of their information.
Click Edit to open the OA-Rx Settings pop-up window. Within this window, there are four configuration sections:
- Interaction Checking
Control which types of drug interaction alerts appear during prescribing.
You can individually enable or disable warnings for:
- Moderate Drug Interactions
- Pediatric/Geriatric Interactions
- Duplicate Therapy Interactions
Select On or Off for each option using the radio buttons.
- Alert Settings
Manage the dosage alert display.
- Currently, there is one option available: Display Dosage Alerts.
- Select On or Off to enable or disable these alerts.
- Supervisor for eRx
Specify supervisory requirements for controlled and non-controlled prescriptions.
Select Yes or No to indicate whether the provider requires a supervisory physician for:
- Non-Controlled Substances
If Yes is selected for either, then:
- An eRx Supervisors drop-down list will be available.
- Select one or more supervising providers.
- You may also select a default supervisor from the list.
Note: Providers who are disabled or have incomplete profiles will not be selectable.
- Pharmacy Request Services
- Enable communication features between pharmacies, payers, and Office Ally via Surescripts.
- Each service can be activated by clicking the Edit button to the right of the option, then switching the toggle from Off to On.
- Available options include:
- Rx Change: Allows a pharmacy to request prescription changes.
- Rx Renewal: Allows a pharmacy to send refill requests.
- Specialty Patient Enrollment: Enables pharmacies to send enrollment forms.
- Electronic Prior Authorization (EPA): Lets payers send prior authorization forms directly to Office Ally.
Saving Changes
After configuring any settings within the provider’s OA-Rx pop-up, click Update in the lower-right corner to save your changes.
Once saved, the updated settings will immediately apply to that provider’s e-prescribing activity.
