Linking Lab Results Manually

If lab results were received electronically through an EDI connection but were not automatically linked to a patient chart in Office Ally’s EHR 24/7, you can manually link them by following the steps below.

Before We Begin

Before linking lab results manually, make sure you are logged into EHR 24/7 and that the lab result appears in the Results Inbox with a status of Unlinked.

Steps to Link Lab Results Manually

  1. Access the Results Inbox
  • Log in to EHR 24/7.
  • Navigate to the Document Center.
  • From the top menu, click Results Inbox.
  1. Locate Unlinked Lab Results
  • Review the list of lab results that are not linked to a patient chart.
  • In the Signed Status column, click Unlinked for the result you want to file.
  1. File the Lab Result
  • Scroll to the bottom of the lab result.
  • Select one of the following options:
  • File this lab result to Patient Chart
  • File this lab result to Patient Chart and sign
    (Selecting this option will also sign off on the result.)
  1. Optional: Send a Desktop Inbox Message
  • If Send message to Provider/Staffs Desktop Inbox is selected, a message will be sent to the recipient’s Desktop inbox.
  1. Verify Patient and Provider Information
  • Confirm that the patient and provider information is correct.
  • If the patient does not appear or the information is incorrect:
  • Click the three-dot box to view your patient list.
  • Select the correct patient.
  • Check Ignore Patient Name and Ignore Provider Name Validation as needed.
  1. Update the Result
  • Choose one of the following:
  • Update and view next result
  • Update
  • The lab result will now be filed into the patient’s chart.

Where to Find the Linked Lab Result

Once updated, the lab result will appear in two locations:

  • Document Center > Results Inbox (now showing as linked)
  • Patient Chart > Results > Laboratory Results

Managing Linked Lab Results

When viewing test results from the patient’s chart, you can:

  • Sign Off
  • Route
  • Add Comments
  • Delete
  • Print the lab result
