How to Use Educational Resources in EHR 24/7

If you need to save and manage patient-facing educational documents in EHR 24/7, Office Ally provides an Educational Resources feature that allows you to store materials and later add them directly to a patient chart. Follow the steps below to save, edit, and attach Educational Resources.

Before We Begin

Educational Resources must be saved in the Manage Office section before they can be added to a patient’s chart. Files must be 2MB or smaller.

Steps to Save an Educational Resource

  1. Navigate to Educational Resources
  • From the main menu, click Manage Office.
  • Under List Maintenance, select Education Resources.
  1. Add a New Resource
  • Click the Add New button in the upper right corner.
  • Enter the following information:
  • Resource Name
  • Publication date
  • Use the Resource Category drop-down to select one of the available categories:
  • Problem List
  • Medication List
  • Laboratory Test Results
  1. Upload the File
  • Click Choose File next to the Education Resource field.
  • Select a file 2MB or smaller to upload.
  1. Set Optional Status
  • If needed, check the Inactive box to keep the resource available but not selectable during charting.
  1. Save the Resource
  • Click Add to save the Educational Resource.
  • Once saved, it will appear in the main Educational Resource list, where you may edit or delete existing entries.

Steps to Add a Saved Educational Resource to a Patient Chart

  1. Access the Patient Chart
  • Navigate to the patient’s chart and place your mouse over the Documents menu.
  1. Select Add Educational Resources
  • Click Add Educational Resources from the drop-down.
  1. Choose the Resource
  • In the pop-up window, click the ellipses (…) next to Resource ID to select a saved resource.
  • All fields will auto-populate based on the saved information, except Encounter ID.
  1. Add an Encounter ID
  • Click the ellipses (…) next to the Encounter ID field to select the correct encounter.
  1. Save to the Chart
  • Click Save to add the Educational Resource to the patient’s chart.
  1. View All Added Resources
  • To view all resources attached to a chart, select View All Educational Resources from the main Documents menu.

Alternative Location to Add Educational Resources

Educational Resources can also be added when viewing an encounter:

  1. Open the View Progress Notes/Encounter page.
  1. Hover over Documents in the menu above the note.
  1. Select Add Educational Resources.
  1. Complete the pop-up using the same steps listed above.
