If you need to move an encounter from one patient record to another (for example, if an Encounter is created on the wrong patient's chart accidentally), follow the steps below to complete the transfer through EHR 24/7.
Before We Begin
Make sure you have the correct Encounter ID that is signed off by the Treating Provider and that the Encounter ID and Patient IDs you’re transferring the encounter to and from are in your system.
Steps to Transfer a Patient Encounter
- Navigate to the Transfer Patient Encounters Tool
- Go to EHR, then click the Manage Office tab, and select Transfer Patient Encounter.
- Select the Patient to Transfer From
- Click the ellipsis button (…) next to the FROM field.
Search for and select the Patient ID from whom the encounter is being transferred.
- Select the Encounter ID
- Click the ellipsis button (…) next to the Encounter ID field.
Locate and select the Encounter ID associated with the encounter you want to transfer. The selected Encounter ID will appear in the field below.
- Select the Patient to Transfer To
- Click the ellipsis button (…) next to the TO field.
Search for and select the new patient to whom the encounter will be transferred. to whom the encounter will be transferred.
- Transfer the Encounter
- Once all fields are complete, click the Transfer Encounter button to finalize the transfer. You will receive a confirmation message once the transfer is successful.
Need to Transfer Multiple Encounters?
Unfortunately, Encounters can only be transferred one at a time. You can repeat these steps to transfer as many Encounters as you would like.
