Patient clinical summaries can be generated from either individual Progress Notes or from all data available in a patient’s chart. If you need to generate a Clinical Summary for a patient in Office Ally’s EHR 24/7, follow the steps below. Clinical Summaries can be printed or exported as needed after they are generated.
Steps to Generate a Clinical Summary from the Patient Chart
- Access Export Clinical Information
- Navigate to the Patient Charts tab.
- Open the patient’s chart.
- Hover over the Others option in the top menu.
- Under View/Download Chart Information, select Export Clinical Information.
- Select Clinical Summary
- Next to Document type, select Clinical Summary from the drop-down menu.
- Choose Encounter Type
- Under the Encounter section, select Last Encounter or Specific Encounter.
- If Specific Encounter is selected, enter the appropriate encounter ID.
- Select Summary Sections
- Review the Sections area and choose which subsections to include.
- All sections are selected by default, but you may uncheck any you do not want.
- Select All and Deselect All options are available.
- Generate or Export the Summary
- Click Generate to create a printable Clinical Summary.
- Click Export to create a password-protected ZIP file.
Generating a Clinical Summary from an individual Progress Note
- Open Progress Notes
- From the patient chart, hover over Progress Notes in the top menu.
- Select View Progress Notes/Encounters.
- Generate Clinical Summary
- Locate the View/Print option above the progress note.
- From the drop-down, select Patient Clinical Summary.
- The Clinical Summary will generate immediately in a separate pop-up for printing or exporting.
- Patient Portal Delivery (If Applicable)
- If the patient is registered for the Patient Ally portal, a copy of the Clinical Summary will automatically be sent to the patient when generated using this method.
